Rupert Russell is an award winning filmmaker and author. His feature debut, FREEDOM FOR THE WOLF, won the Audience Award at the Slamdance Film Festival and was nominated for the Cinema for Peace ‘Most Valuable Film of the Year’ Award during Berlinale 2019. His second documentary, PRICE WARS, aired on ARTE and was published as a book by Penguin Random House. It was praised as a ‘geopolitical masterpiece’ by David Lammy MP and ‘one of the most important books of our time’ by The Intercept. His animated series on the Trump phenomenon, HOW THE WORLD WENT MAD, premiered at Sheffield Doc/Fest and earned him a spot on the shortlist for the Young Director Award at Cannes Lions. His latest documentary feature, THE LAST SACRIFICE, has been praised as ‘destined to be a classic’ by Dangerous Minds and is slated for a theatrical release in 2025 and a streamer release in 2026. He is currently in production on a feature documentary, MAD DAD, about his late father, the iconoclastic film director Ken Russell, featuring Kathleen Turner, Pete Townshend, Oliver Stone and many others. Rupert is a member of the LGBTQ+ community and has directed commercials celebrating Pride for HSBC. He holds a PhD in Sociology from Harvard University.
